As family day fast approaches, we tend to schedule activities and outings to keep our kids (and ourselves) engaged during this relatively new holiday. On the other hand, as Professional Organizers, we see this as a wonderful opportunity to wrangle the kids together for a little session of de-cluttering. Slave driversâ¦we know. Should you be able to squeeze in an hour session before the days activities commence, here are some helpful hints on where to start and what to doâ¦
2. Then, Take a couple of post it notes and label them âdonateâ and âkeepâ. Place each paper on either side of the room.
3. Next, select a section you would like to work on (could be a toy chest or if youâre feeling ambitious that really big bin of action figures or matchbox cars) and simply hand each item to your child to run over to the designated post it note.
4. Finally, when you feel youâve squeezed every inch of organization out of your little apprentice, box or bag your donation items and place all “keep” items back in their respected places.
On the way to your next activity, swing by your local donation point to make your drop off! Not only will you clear your clutter right away-your kids will feel good knowing that their possessions are going to others who will cherish them just as much as they did.
